Azalea season is short in Virginia, but it’s one of our very favorite times. Meg and Jamey were our clients when they got married last year, and now we’re happy to say we can also call them friends. The bonus to photographing friends is that they tend to trust you a bit more than your average client. As a result, we managed to talk them into meeting us at one of our gardens. We got together in Richmond, Virginia to capture a portrait session on one of the most beautiful days of Spring!
See what I mean? It’s such a gorgeous wonderland! The flowers? The trees? The light!
The funniest part is that every year I talk about how much I love azaleas, but I refuse to plant them in our own yard. I think seeing them most days without the flowers would make me so sad!
Not to mention, if we DID plant azaleas at our house I would definitely need multiple bushes. Twenty should do it.
I’m undecided if I would plant all white, or a mix of colors.
I couldn’t pass up sneaking in a couple of dogwoods, we want one of those too. A red bud tree would nice too, and maybe a weeping cherry blossom to even things out.
